Problem solved! (At least for me anyways!) I did that and experienced none of the VC80.CRT errors that had occurred on previous occasions trying to upgrade v 3223 in situ to v 3270.
Install version 3270 of Disk Director into a clean environment - reapplying license id's as the latest version installs. Uninstall previous version 3223 of Disk Director 12ģ.
I currently have had version 3223 installed - and without thinking have simple double clicked on the 3270 update executable and then failed to install 3270 on top of the current version - with a Microsoft error as per the above - all this under Windows 10 圆4 environment - latest OS version 1607.Īs I realized a short time ago from the advice of an Acronis Rep regarding the correct way to re-install any Acronis installation file - the correct proecedure is to:ġ. I too have had the exact same problem with attempting to apply the latest Disk Director 12 Update 3270 - amd have discovered the cause of my problems - with a very simple solution. Verify that the program to be upgraded exists on your computer and that you have the correct upgrade patch." Didn't mean much to me, but he insisted it essentially means "not microsoft's problem, get in touch with acronis".
* Just to update with what I watched the microsoft support tech run and what happened when he did - the hotfix he ran was called "VS80sp1-KB2643995-IA64-INTL.exe" which is a 2005 MVS hotfix, and when running it it said "The upgrade patch cannot be installed by the Windows Installer service because the program to be upgraded may be missing, or the upgrade patch may update a different version of the program. I did point out that I'd been sent to him by acronis support and showed him the article, and he just reiterated that this can only be fixed by Acronis. So I've just had a remote support session with a microsoft support tech who checked my c++ thingies were all up to date and working, downloaded their hotfix* onto my system, and, after running it and seeing the results, told me that the Disk Director 12 application needs to be updated to work correctly, and that I need to get in touch with acronis support.
That directs me to microsoft support to obtain and apply a hotfix. That directs me to Microsoft KB article here:
I found that error in the knowledge base here : Please refer to Help and Support for more information." "An error occurred during the installation of assembly ',type="win32",version="7.6195",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",processorArchitecture="amd64".
When I tried installing it, I got this error during installation (I tried after reboot too in case that had anything to do with it failing): I got the current latest version as of today from my acronis account site. Anyhow, as it wasn't working, I decided to uninstalll and reinstall DD12's latest build that is listed as W10 compatible. I previously had DD12 working fine under windows 7.Īfter I upgraded to Windows 10, DD12 was unable to carry out tasks that it would normally do between boots (specifically I was trying to increase the size of my system reserved partition, as the W10 upgrade process had left it as it was with W7, at 100mb, whereas I understand that a W10 installation typically will reserve between 350-500mb.).
